B. Digital Skills Development of Rural Unserved & Underserved Communities

EFPU empowers community members to access vital information, improve market decisions, discern reliable sources of information, and participate more effectively in the digital economy. This project therefore aims to bridge the digital divide by providing essential digital literacy training, fostering socio-economic empowerment, and enhancing access to critical online government services among unserved and underserved communities.

The project recognizes that limited access to and use of digital technologies in rural unserved and underserved parts of Uganda is accompanied by a lack of digital skills across different social groups (e. g vendors) and businesses. This deficiency includes basic digital skills and competencies, which allow individuals to interact online and consume digital goods and services, as well as advanced skills, which empower the workforce to take advantage of technologies for enhanced productivity and economic growth.

EFPU therefore understands that digital literacy and awareness are key drivers for new business models, applications, and services necessary to develop and contribute to the social cohesion and economic prosperity in rural areas. Digital skills and competencies of citizens are significant for a community, especially in rural areas, as digital literacy means social inclusion, offers working and business opportunities, and can help simplify people’s every day. The project therefore carries out trainings and distribute digital infrastructures among unserved communities.
